KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia has unveiled the third variant of the BMW 6 Series, the Gran Coupe, joining its coupe and convertible siblings.
Malaysia is the first country in Asia to unveil the four-door Gran Coupe, BMW Malaysia officials said.
Outgoing BMW Malaysia president Geoffrey Briscoe is confident that the new model will boost its sales and success in Malaysia.
The company has seen big sales growth so far this year with a total of 2,702 BMW, MINI and Motorrad vehicles delivered as of May 2012. They comprised 2,414 BMWs, 140 MINIs and 148 Motorrads.
This helps make BMW Malaysia the number one selling premium automotive brand, Briscoe said at the Gran Coupe launch yesterday.
“With the all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. BMW sets another milestone in the Malaysian automotive industry,” said Dr Gerhard Pils, who is Briscoe’s successor. “The new four-door coupe incorporates all the traits known to BMW and successfully complements our line-up of the BMW 6 Series range in Malaysia.”
The Gran Coupe is BMW’s first four-door coupe that marries sporty aesthetics with powerful dynamics, penetrating yet another segment of premium luxury cars.
Better yet, it is the only four-door coupe that can seat up to five people as standard.
The Gran Coupe’s retail price (on the road without insurance) is RM788,800, with the optional premium package costing an extra RM35,000. It is available in seven shades: Black Sapphire, Vermillon Red, Havanna, Space Grey, Orion Silver, Deep Sea Blue and Mineral White.
