SHARES ended 0.25 per cent higher yesterday after US Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke soothed concerns that the bank’s huge monetary easing policy will end earlier than expected.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 57.32 points to 22,577.01 on turnover of HK$ 68.18 billion.

AIA surged 4.1 per cent to a record high HK$ 32.85 after 2012 net profit jumped 89 per cent. New World Development rose 3.8 per cent to HK$ 13.76 after posting strong earnings. Bourse operator HKEx ended flat at HK$ 136.30, after reporting its 2012 net profit fell 20 per cent. AFP
