THE FTSE Straits Times Index was up 0.39 per cent, or 13.05 points, at 3,361.92, its highest close since January 4 2008.
But in the broader market, losers beat gainers 249 to 216.
Among the gainers, CapitaLand climbed 2.7 per cent to S$ 3.75.
The top active stocks were Genting Singapore (+2.96 per cent), Keppel Corp (-1.38 per cent) and SingTel (+2.13 per cent).
DBS Bank added 0.86 per cent to S$ 16.36 while food and beverage distributor Fraser and Neave gained 0.86 per cent to S$ 8.25.
